The Story
AkwaRide was born out of a simple observation: the existing ride-hailing models in Nigeria weren't working for everyone. Prices were unpredictable, and drivers were struggling with high commissions.
We decided to build something different — a platform rooted in the culture of negotiation and mutual respect that defines our city, Uyo. By introducing the bidding model, we've returned the power of choice to our users.
